The cell line has the 46, XY karyotype. There are no apparent marker chromosomes. The rate of polyploidy was 2.8%. The presence of the Y chromosome was confirmed in Q-band observation.

G-401 was deposited as a cell line derived from a Wilms' tumor. Due to a change in the classification of such tumors, the cell line was examined by Garvin et al. and found to be more appropriately classified as derived from a rhabdoid tumor of the kidney. [49833]
Propagation:
ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated McCoy's 5a Medium Modified, Catalog No. 30-2007. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%. Temperature: 37.0°C
